About Dr. Marcia B. Kimeldorf,
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Helping individuals and couples create lasting change through compassionate and evidence-based therapy.
My mission is to help each client I see to achieve lasting change through greater self-awareness, and enhanced knowledge of and ability to use skills to manage emotions, tolerate distress, communicate more effectively, and manage life’s challenges and stressors in more helpful ways.
I am a warm, emotionally engaged therapist who will make you feel comfortable and understood. I am open and direct, and you will be able to tell instantly that you are in the room with someone who really wants to help you be your best self. Clients tell me that I am approachable and easy to talk to. I have 20 years of experience helping people who are struggling in one or multiple areas of their lives, and I believe that each client needs and deserves a personalized approach targeted to their own personality style, problems, and goals.
My Approach
Each client and situation is unique and not everyone benefits from the same approach to mental wellness. I have had training in a number of therapeutic modalities, and I draw from these to customize a treatment plan for each individual or couples client based on their specific needs and preferences.
Modalities include:
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Mindfulness-based interventions
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Supportive Psychotherapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Emotional-Focused Therapy (EFT)

Experience
I've had many years of experience in hospital settings, research clinics, and private practice settings. I spent 6 years as the Clinical Director of a large private practice overseeing the clinical wellbeing of thousands of patients. Over the course of my career, I have supervised PhD/PsyD students and post-doctoral fellows in their clinical work. I have taught college and graduate school classes at NYU, University of Miami, and Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. I have been in private practice since 2010.
As the founder of Marcia Kimeldorf Psychology, I am deeply committed to applying my expertise to provide individualized quality, sensitive, trauma-informed care to all the clients I serve.
Other Important Details, Payment and Insurance Info
I am an out -of-network provider. This means that I do not accept any insurance directly. However, for any services I provide, I will give you a receipt (“a superbill”) once per month that provides all the information you will need to appropriately submit your bill to your insurance company for reimbursement.
If you are interested in learning about what your plan covers, you can call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask what is covered for an out-of-network provider who is providing the services in which you are engaging (individual therapy, couples therapy).
Remember to ask if you have a deductible and what they consider the maximum allowable.
All services are billed directly to the client. Full payment is expected monthly to Marcia Kimeldorf Psychology for all services conducted within that month.
The "No Surprises" Act (effective January 1st, 2022) requires health care providers to provide current and new patients who are uninsured or self-pay with a "Good Faith Estimate" (GFE) of cost for treatment. This regulation attempts to provide patients with transparency regarding their health care costs. While therapy presents a unique circumstance for estimating costs due to variable factors (length of therapy, cancellations, etc.), Dr. Kimeldorf can provide a GFE as needed.
